He was predeceased by: his parents, Steven Klaiss and Ruth Young; and his former wife Janice Young. He is survived by: his wife Harriett Young of Plano, Iowa; his children, Robin Young (Pete) of Muscatine, Randy Young (Joan) of Owatonna and Russell Young (Arlene) of Tea; his grandchildren, Jeremy Young (Casey), Adam Young, Mikayla Young and Tiffany Young; his great grandchildren, Emily Young and Ryan Young; and his siblings, Steve Young of Plano and Sherry Smith (Bob) of Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the First Baptist Church of Seymour and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544. The memorial contributions will assist those in need due to Covid-19 and spread the gospel in Southern Iowa communities.
