He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathan Chester and Marie Chester (Johnston); his wife Evelyn Chester (Nuss); his son Kevin Chester; and his siblings, Lorraine Dietz and Kent Chester.
He is survived by: his children, Steven Chester of Aurora, Colorado and Ann Pross (Timothy) of Atlantic, Iowa; his daughter-in-law Cheryl Chester of Shell Rock, Iowa; his grandchildren, Aleshia Bloker (Nick), Adam Chester, Ariel Chester, Ashley Chester, Ethan Pross and Justin Chester; his great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Savannah and Grayson Bloker; and his brother Lemar Chester (Judy) of Plainfield. He is also survived by children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
