He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernhardt Peter Peters and Emogene Peters; his sisters, Linda Peterson of Perry and Lorna; and his brother-in-law Russell West of Des Moines.
He is survived by: his wife Linda; his sister Bernadine; his daughters, Karen Shirk (Shawn) of Bloomfield, Deanna McClain (Dom) of Perry and Cindy White of Madrid; and his grandchildren, Trace M. Shirk, Lauren White, Scottie Smyth (Lindsey), Trae Smyth, Michael Samples, Ashley Atencio, Amy White and Sky Ankrum. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren.
