He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Jochum and Pam Jochum; his uncles, Charlie, Herbie, Ray and George; and his nieces, Jennifer Johns and Rachel Schuster.
He is survived by: his former wife Martha Bloechl; his children, Jamie Smith (Amber) of Peosta, Mollie of Asbury, Jodi Annis (David) of Minnetonka Minnesota and His; his siblings, Richard Smith (Joyce) of Dubuque, Sue Batell (Tom) of LaCrosse Wisconsin, Joe Smith (Ann) of Peosta, Ann Grogan (Kevin) of Cascade and Jack Smith (Maria) of Bankston; his siblings-in-law, Barb Horn (Nick), Georgia Johns (Les) of Potosi Wisconsin, Charles Bloechl (Christine) of Rockford Illinois and Julie Kriebs (Kevin); his close friend Loren Larson of Dubuque; and his grandchildren, Kayleigh, Addison, Cooper Smith, Leo and June Annis. He is also survived by his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
He frequently contributed to many charities around Dubuque never asking for his name to be attached to any donation.
