He was predeceased by: his parents, Nicholas Polfer and Veronica Polfer (Kelchen); his parents-in-law, Irene Till (Leyendecker) and Silvarius Leyendecker; his son-in-law Paul Hines; his granddaughter Kaitlyn Polfer; his stepgrandson Max Hassforth; his sister Mary Ann Jaeger; his siblings-in-law, Bill Jaeger, Wayne Tauke, Floyd Funke, LeRoy Gassmann, Jerry Lammers, Nick Wolfe and Rose Wolfe; and his nephews, Jeff Jaeger and Jeff Lammers.
He is survived by: his wife Jean Leyendecker of Paul's Catholic Church; his children, Deb Harthan (Matt) of Ventura, Eileen Hines of Chandler, AZ, Al Polfer (Joyce) of Farley, IA, Bob Polfer (Kathy) of Worthington, IA, Brian Polfer (Dani) of Muskego, WI and Jeff Polfer (Jennifer Lewin) of Worthington, IA; his grandchildren, Brandon Harthan, Blake Hines, Brianna Floyd, Stefani Puccio, Allen Polfer, Nicole Polfer, Samantha White, Zach Polfer, Kaley Polfer and Savanna Lehman; his stepgrandchildren, Alex Hassforth, Abbi Hassforth, Jon Combs, Ethan Combs, Dallas Elmer and Charlee Elmer; his siblings, Patricia Tauke of Cascade, IA, Janet Funke of Dyersville, IA and Chas Polfer (Mary Jane) of The Villages, FL; and his in-laws, Marge Gassmann, Judy Lammers, Linda Burger (Dave), Steve Leyendecker (Christa), Mary Leyendecker, Rick Leyendecker (Karla) and Kathy Hayes (Pat). He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
