He was predeceased by: his parents, Clem Steffen and Catherine Steffen (Greiner); his wife Lorraine Steffen; his sons-in-law, Kent Frommelt and Michael Oberhoffer; and his siblings, Lorraine, Edward, Sylvester (Marie), Reynold (Frances), Francis, Gerald (Viola) and Andrew (Eileen Steffen).
He is survived by: his former wife Lorraine Brummer; his children, Kay Oberhoffer of Dubuque, Sharon Frommelt of Dubuque, Nancy Felton (Mike) of Monticello, Jerry Steffen Jr. (Marge) of Dubuque and Charles Steffen (Nancy) of Dubuque; and his grandchildren, Matthew Oberhoffer (Beth), Michelle Munya (Paul), David Frommelt (Ashley), Robin Uzel, Mike Felton (Samantha), Erica Reiss (Anthony), Dawson, Ellyn Felton, Dan, Nick (Katie), Tony Steffen, David Steffen (Jessica) and Michael Steffen (Jessica).
