He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael A. Koetz and Mary Edna Koetz (Thielen); his siblings, Marilyn Koetz, Madonna Schmitt (Harold), Mildred Finzel (Norbert), Baby Boy Koetz, Joseph Koetz (Louise) and Glen Koetz; and his son-in-law Bill Schuckert.

He is survived by: his wife Marian Ann Schueller of Centralia, IA; his children, Judy Lester (Bob) of Epworth, IA, Sue Schuckert of Durango, IA, Kathy Corbett (Terry) of Centralia, IA, James "Jim" Koetz (Kim) of Centralia, IA and John "Jack" Koetz (Mary) of Centralia, IA; and his sister-in-law Donna Koetz of Dubuque, IA.
