He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred L. Koopmann and Evelyn Kruse Koopmann; and his brother-in-law Lloyd Heims. He is survived by: his wife Sandy; his daughters, Pam Hinman (Terry) of Iowa City and Jolene Finley (Rich) of Johnston, IA; his grandchildren, Lydia, Alexis, Jack Hinman, Kyla, Austin Finley and Jessica Greenfield; and his siblings, Anthony Koopmann (Eldora) of Dyersville, IA, Jim Koopmann (Doris) of Dyersville, IA, Joyce Westhoff (Mark) of Petersburg, IA and Mary Heims of Monticello, IA.. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Honor Flight of Dubuque and the Tri-States, Veterans Freedom Center, and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Peosta.
