Verlan Uitermarkt Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Verlan Uitermarkt of Pella, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 8, 2024 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayton Orlan and Dorothy Mae Uitermarkt (Van Ommen); his wife Marjean; his sister Nancey Norwood; and his siblings-in-law, Nelson Bogaard, Gary Lanser, John Gosselink, Glen DeKock and Charlene DeKock.
He is survived by: his daughters, Melinda "Mindy" Uitermarkt of Oskaloosa and Cynthia "Cindi" Veldhuizen (Dennis) of Oskaloosa; his grandchildren, Jonathan Plate (Nichelle) of Grinnell, Ryan Plate (Alex) of Grinnell, Andrew Plate (Felicity Meads) of Des Moines, Ashton Long (Clint) of Cedar, Chelsea Steenhoek (Austin) of Pella and Courtney Groenendyk (Brandon) of Oskaloosa; his great grandchildren, Abigail, Dawson Plate, Mason, Claire Plate, Ava, Weston, Wyatt Long, Kaden, Ella Steenhoek, Jade and Reid Groenendyk; his siblings, Kenneth Uitermarkt (Fern) of Pella, Elinor Bogaard of Pella, Maxine Lanser of Centennial, CO, Melvin Uitermarkt (Shirley) of Leighton and Linda Grandia (John) of Pella; and his siblings-in-law, David Norwood of Washington, NC, Leonard Gosselink (Sharon) of Pella and Donna Gosselink of Pella. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
