He was predeceased by: his parents, Wiebe Vries and Gertrude De Vries (Bennink); his parents-in-law, Russel and Mabelle Van Arkel; his brother Harold; and his siblings-in-law, Leona De Vries, E. Robert Visser and William Heynen.

He is survived by: his wife Judy Van Arkel; his sisters, Gertrude Visser of Grand Rapids and Joyce Heynen of Sioux Center, Iowa; and his sister-in-law Nancine Jass (Richard) of Ankeny. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
