He was predeceased by: his parents, Abraham "Abe" Zwarte and Jacoba De Zwarte (Van Oenen); his wife Mary; his son Michael "Mike" De Zwarte; his granddaughter Emily Schippers; his parents-in-law, Gerrit and Grace Vis; his siblings-in-law, Gerald Van Sant, Donald, Norma Toom and Carroll Vis; and his grandchildren, Melissa De Zwarte (Ron Rupprecht), Julie Keegel, Mike Vander Hoek, Taylor, Bryce Wursta, Hollison, Madison Keegel (Cody Sahr), Jayne, Dewey Fairbanks, Jawnica Long (Cole Becker), Launa Edwards, Adan Ortiz Rubio and Alauni.
He is survived by: his sisters, Marilyn Van Sant, Connie (Jerry Rowe) and Linda (Pat Brown); and his sister-in-law Rita Vis. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Covenant Reformed Church (2805 Fifield Rd, Pella, IA 50219). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at the Oakwood Cemetery (1308 Columbus St, Pella, IA 50219).
