He is survived by: his wife Kathy Schimmelpfennig; his family, Nicholas Gerdes (Andrea), Jessica Gerdes (Jason Durnan) and Calla Durnan; and his siblings, Debra Schimmelpfennig (Michael) of Woden, Michael Gerdes (Catherine) of St. Charles and Valerie Gibbs (Patrick) of Garner, Iowa..
A funeral service was held on Monday, October 28th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home (1301 Main St, Pella, IA 50219). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Bingham Township Cemetery.
