He was predeceased by: his parents, Clemence Bruns and Margaret Bruns (Westphal); his wife Alta Handy; and his son Bradley. He is survived by: his children, Bruce Bruns (Sandy) of Sheldon, IA, Brenda Japenga (Dennis) of Ruthven, IA and Bridgot Mace (Mike) of Perry, Iowa. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
