He was predeceased by: his parents, John Haan and Alice Haan Jr. (Ibelings); his wife Ruth Haan; his brother Harold Haan (Lillian); his nephews, Dennis and Roger Haan; his great-nephew DJ Haan; his aunt Grace; his uncle Charles Harvey; and also Carol Heetland.

He is survived by: his sons, Gerald Haan of Parkersburg and Irvin Haan (Amy) of Parkersburg, Iowa; his grandchildren, Andrew Haan (Taylor Trueblood), Joshua Haan (Riley Groen) and Emma Haan; his niece Nancy Skipper (Larry); his niece-in-law Helen Haan; his cousins, Eileen Harvey, Jean Perdue and Jane Lesperance; and his siblings-in-law, Frank, Edward, Joseph, John Gibbs (Janet) and E. Jane Hazen (Rick).
