He was predeceased by: his wife Rosella; his parents, Emanuel Hansen and Martha Hansen; and his brother Ivan Hansen. He is survived by: his children, Sue Hansen (Panora Iowa), Randy Hansen (Carol), Vicki Frohling (Wyatt), Lance Hansen (Lisa) and Todd Hansen (Shannon) of Jefferson; his grandchildren, Paul Buttler (Tommie), Keith Buttler (Jennifer), Amy Pavelka (Rod), Leslie Hough (Kevin), Jennifer Fletcher (Chuck), Amanda Fincham, Adam Frohling, Nick Hansen (Tessa), Whitney Stuart (Mike), Lauren Hansen, Olivia Hansen, William Hansen and Jack Hansen; his brother Charles Hansen of Atlantic, Iowa; and his siblings-in-law, Richard and Sue Rasmussen of Ankeny, Iowa.
