He is survived by: his fiancée Jo Rath; his children, Timothy Herbst (Kristi) of Harlan, Elizabeth (Paul Bencker, Sr.) of Bennington, Laura (Craig Doerhoff) of Ankeny and Linda (Walter Ney) of Sheridan, Indiana; and his siblings, Jan Theulen of Panama, Carol (Ron Mickels) of Omaha, Diane Dermond of Oakland, Jean Hesse of Fairfax, Peg Shawver of Sacramento, Theodore Herbst (Shirley) of Cedar Rapids and James Herbst (Joan) of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. He is also survived by ten grandsons; one great grandson.
