He was predeceased by: his brothers, Edward Lee Sanders and Robert Ray Sanders; and his parents, Lawrence Sanders and Elsie Sanders (Usher). He is survived by: his daughters, Shannon Harvieux (Greg) of Cedar Rapids, Sheri Crighton (Dean Henley) of Cedar Rapids, Christine Kelly of Cedar Rapids and Charley Sanders of Cedar Rapids; his former wife June Sanders (Summers); his grandchildren, Spencer Harvieux (Katie), Lauren Spicher (Quinton), Zoey Crighton, Seth Crighton, Anna Kelly and Andrew Oldorf; and his siblings, Darlene Squires and Tom Sanders (Terry).
