He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Philipp and Emily Philipp (Tomas); his daughter Kerry Philipp; his grandsons, Drake Whitters and John Philipp; his siblings, Patience Jellen, Charity Schneekloth and Danny Philipp; and his brothers-in-law, Jake Byrne and Rhainey Hugh.

He is survived by: his wife Jennifer Philipp; his children, Gary Philipp (Teresa), Kenny Philipp (Kim), Kim Minyard (Robert), Chris Philipp, Lisa Whitters (Bill), Shannon Philipp (Lisa), Dan Philipp, Jen Shebetka (Jon), Lindsey Nelson (Zach), Hunter Philipp and Stone Philipp (Abbe); his siblings, Faith Seehawer (Steve), Teresa Byrne, Hope Hugh, Mary Brecht (Bill), Pat Roberts (John), Ed Philipp (Cheri), Ann Ranard, Dave Philipp (Teresa), Tina Anderson (Tom) and Paul Philipp (Diana); and his siblings-in-law, Jeanne Philipp and Terry Schneekloth. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 23rd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the St. Ludmila Catholic Church (211 21st Ave SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404). A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, April 23rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
