He was loved and cherished by many people including: his grandparents, Packwood, Gaylord Dale Myers and Reva Blanche Mercer Myers; his wife Yolanda F. Nelson; his sisters, Katherine Franklin and Nancy Mills Rachford; his grandsons, Jacob and Tyler Bormann; his son-in-law Jim Mefford; his children, Christine Mefford, Steve Myers (Kim) and Mike Myers (Jenny); his grandchildren, Jordan Bormann, Derek Bormann, Makenna Myers, Tessa Myers, Malcolm Myers and Kelly Myers; and his stepgrandchildren, Katie Shelangoski and Colten Showman. He was also cherished by three step great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends.
Memorial contributions in John's honor may be directed to the Packwood Cemetery Association, to Hospice Compassus, Jefferson County Fair Board, or to the Packwood First Responders and may be mailed to the family at 1429 – 125th Street, Packwood, Iowa 52580.
