He was predeceased by: his parents, Curtis Edwin and Virginia Mae Steele (Earls); his grandson Desmond Downey-Steele; his siblings, Diana Stevens and Curtis Steele; his parents-in-law, Robert Clarkson, LeRoy Osterloh and Elizabeth Davis; and his close friend Daniel Gundrum.
He is survived by: his wife Candy Steele of Ottumwa; his children, Rebecca Steele, Shelly Horton (Robert), Heather Steele, Brian Steele, Jason Steele (LeeAnne Russell), Vhon Steele Jr. (Bethany Lobberecht), Tamaya Guzman-Steele and Stormie Gundrum (Nathon); his stepchildren, Shelby Rice (Caleb), Clint Osterloh (Tayah) and Charlie Borger; and his former wife Brenda Steele. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, December 5th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Bates Funeral Chapel (114 S 7th St, Oskaloosa, IA 52577).
