He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernie Bitner and Lena Louise Bitner (Sauer); his former wife Evelyn Jean Forsythe; his wife Jean Bitner; and his siblings, Harry Bitner and Irma Owens.
He is survived by: his former wife Doris Yvonne Surber; his daughters, Nancy Akers (Duane) of Albia, Mary Terrell (Steven Sr.) of Eldon and Kathy Dommer of Eldon; his brothers, Donald Bitner (Claralea) of Centerville and Jerry Bitner (Judy) of Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Jennifer Davis (Roger), Steven Terrell Jr., Adam Akers, Melissa Crawford and Michael Dommer (Heather); and his great grandchildren, Zachary Davis, Quinton Crawford, Collin Crawford, Carson Dommer and Grace Dommer. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be made out to either the Solid Rock Church of God or to Hospice Serving Davis and Wapello Counties, and may be dropped off or mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, C/O Bitner family, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
