He is survived by: his children, Michael Christy (Deborah) of Madison, MS and Kara McElroy (Rob) of Ottumwa; and his stepchildren, John Cowles of Newton, Pam Cowles of Bloomfield, Victor Cowles (Rita) of Ames and Marc Cowles of Utah. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 2 great - great grandchildren.
