It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Franrica Payne of Ottumwa, Iowa, who passed away on February 17, 2023, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Vernon T. Spurgeon and Evelyn Fern Hanna Spurgeon; her former husband Ben Simonson; her husband Philip Payne; her close friend Darrell Adams; and her children, Rosemary Payne, George Payne and Sam Payne.
She is survived by: her children, Marty Simonson of Des Moines, Danny Simonson (Melissa) of Ottumwa, Monte Simonson (Diane), Brenda Szakacs (Gary), Mona Veach (David), Frank Payne (Cheri), William Payne (Carol), Connie Cavanaugh (Dan) and Mary Ann Southworth; and her siblings, LaVetta Schmied of Naperville, Illinois and Stuart Spurgeon (Maria Luisa) of Toledo, Oregon. She is also survived by three grandchildren, 20 bonus grandchildren; many bonus great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established to the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary O.B. Nelson Post #3.
