He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyle Echelberger and Florence Echelberger (Chalstrom); his wife Shirley Echelberger; and his brothers, Gary, Darwyn and Gayland Echelberger.

He is survived by: his children, Scott Echelberger of Otho, Jennifer Echelberger of Otho and Todd Echelberger of Fort Dodge; and his grandchildren, Keaton Echelberger of Fort Dodge and Keeley Degner of Fort Dodge. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
