She was predeceased by: her mother Marguerite Louise Schmitz (Lansing); her husband Ivan William Uhlenhake; her father Philip Schmitz (Florence); her siblings, Kenneth Schmitz, Karl Schmitz, Sr. and Karen Hemesath (Jack); and her sister-in-law Esther Stewart (Raphael Moeller).

She is survived by: her children, Kurt Uhlenhake (JoAnn) of Ossian, Karla Uhlenhake of Racine, Layne Uhlenhake of Beaver Dam, Laurie Thompson (Tim) of Calmar, Jay Uhlenhake (Margaret) of Lawler, Jeff Uhlenhake of Ossian and Aric Uhlenhake of Decorah; her grandchildren, Jennifer Briscoe (Nick), Justin Lyon, Jessica Ley (August), Stacey Christen (Ryan), Kelli Miller (Reece), Blake Uhlenhake (Niki), Danielle Kuhlmann (Marty), Jared Uhlenhake and Kisara Thompson; and her sisters-in-law, Jane Schmitz and Sharon Schmitz. She is also survived by 15 Great Grandchildren, Many Nieces & Nephews & Cousins.

Mary Lou also quilted at the Ossian Senior Hospice, making quilts that were donated to the missions, families in need and the veterans.
