He was predeceased by: his parents, William D. Veldhuizen and Henrietta Veldhuizen (Plette); his sons, Benjamin James and Timothy Dean; and his brother Carl.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Vivian Plowman; his children, Karen (Curt Smith) and Billy (DeeDee Veldhuizen); his grandchildren, Jordan Smith (Carrie) of Waukee, Josiah Smith (Annie) of Cedar Falls, Jonathan Smith (Laurilee) of Anchorage, AK, Amanda Veldhuizen of Oskaloosa, Bret Hoover (Stephanie), Emily Thomas (Nick) and Lindsey Veldhuizen of Oskaloosa; and his sister Gladys Vande Krol of Waterloo.
Memorials made to Mahaska Health Foundation for the Serenity Hospice House or can be made to the family and they will direct to "Voice of the Martyrs.".
