He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Alexander and Rita Malin Sparks; his daughter Leslie Arnold; his granddaughter Breanna Brummer; and his siblings, Peggy Comstock, Marilyn Burch, Denny Sparks and Johnny Sparks.
He is survived by: his wife Marie Sparks of Oskaloosa; his children, Loretta (Geron Knox) and Tim (Pamela Sparks); his son-in-law Dan Arnold of Council Bluffs; and his grandchildren, Holly Koons (Justin), Heidi Holmes (Terry), Hilary Holmes (Bryan), Lindsey Knox, Brendon Knox, Heather Doak (Ben), Amanda Drost (Tim) and Eric Brummer. He is also survived by twenty four great grandchildren; a brother.
