It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ron Van Alst of Oskaloosa, Iowa, born in Ottumwa, Iowa, who passed away on September 17, 2020, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Gabel Alonzo and Letola Viola Van Alst (Ritchie); and his siblings, Charles Van Alst and Mary Anne Funk. He is survived by: his former spouse Laurie Lynne Crosby; his children, Shannon Van Alst of Oskaloosa, Shane Van Alst of Oskaloosa and Shauna Schwab (Chris) of Verona, Wisconsin; his granddaughters, Kierstin, Aleigha, Danielle, Shayna, Braelyn Van Alst and Kenadi Schwab; and his siblings, Alice Jane Klyn of Ottumwa and George Van Alst (Sandra) of Des Moines.

According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and appropriate personal protective equipment are advised for attending this public event.
