He is survived by: his children, Afton Kirk of Agency and Landon Sytsma of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Aaliyah Sytsma, Kinsey Kraber, Blake Zane Sytsma and Tenley Mae Sytsma; his stepchildren, Kelsy, Kasey and Kyle; his stepgrandchildren, Oaklyn and Brixleigh; and his siblings, Lila (Gary Capps) of Oskaloosa, Curt Sytsma (Ellen King) of Des Moines, Dale Sytsma (Carla) of Oskaloosa and Russ Sytsma (Valerie) of Oskaloosa.
