He was predeceased by: his parents, John Jack and Phyllis Ballard Ren; his sons, Robert "Bob" Ren and Tim Ren; his great grandchild Emersyn Smothers; and his siblings, Jackie Wambsgans, Roxy Moll, Irene Ren, Kerry and John Ren.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Knight of Oskaloosa; his daughters, Lovana Brichacek of Oskaloosa and Terri Kutcher (Gary) of Oskaloosa; his grandchildren, Mercaidez Gillem, Dustin Smothers, Austin Smothers, Bryson Smothers, Josenya "Josie" Brichacek and Cezlie Weldon; his great grandchild Kendrick; and his siblings, Steve Ren of Des Moines, Jean Ren of Arkansas, Mary Stone of Texas, Kim Conklin (Kevin) of Iowa and Linda Young of Illinois.
