He was predeceased by: his parents, Tunis Vonk and Celia A. Vonk (Verwers); his wife June E. Engelhoven; and his sister-in-law Evelyn Engelhoven. He is survived by: his children, Randy (Arlene Vonk), Delwin (Joyce Vonk) and Melanie (Steve Sopher); his grandchildren, Greg Vonk of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Brandon Vonk (Kate) of Oskaloosa, Amber Vonk of Des Moines, Jennifer Gordon (Seth) of Madrid, Iowa, Ashley Ehlers (Tom) of Cascade, Iowa, Brad Vonk (Airianne) of Ottumwa, Mallory Sopher of Ames, Marissa and Shea Sopher of Belmond, Iowa; his great grandchildren, Hayden, Sawyer, Bennett Ehlers, Allison Vonk, Brynn, Avery Vonk and Blake Gordon; and also, Garlyn Engelhoven (Irene) of Oskaloosa and Byron Engelhoven of Oskaloosa.
According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and reasonable personal protective equipment is advised for attending a religious public event.
Memorials may be made to the Central Reformed Church.
