He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edward Mitrisin of Oskaloosa and Marjorie Mitrisin (Tucker); his wife Julie Plate of Mary's Catholic Church; his daughters, Amanda (Brian Lemke) and Sara (Jim Boender) of Oskaloosa; his grandchildren, Aubrey, Kayne and Xavier; his parents-in-law, John and Margaret Plate of Oskaloosa; his brother-in-law Larry Van Rossum of Oskaloosa; his nieces and nephews, Jodi Haines (Jason) and Ryan Van Rossum; his sister Sharon Van Rossum; his grandson Samuel Boender; and also, Larry, Maracell Plate, David, Cindy Plate, Jim and Krys Plate.
