Marian Slings Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Marian Slings (Oskaloosa, Iowa), who passed away on August 23, 2018 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her son Edwin Slings; her brother Andrew Vander Stoep; her parent-in-law Bert Slings; and also, Jennie Slings, Min Houk, Freeman Houk, Edna Boender, John Boender, Jenella Stull, Sam Stull, Art Slings, Hattie Slings, Carroll Van Wyk and Elsie Vander Stoep.

She is survived by: her parents, Edward Stoep and Gertie Koldenhoven Vander Stoep; her children, Bernie Slings, Marla Nilson and Jay Slings; her husband Carolyn Ruter of Kanawha; her brother John Vander Stoep of Hollandale; her sisters-in-law, Marilyn Van Wyk and Alice Dorlag; and also, Marlene Slings of Oskaloosa, Brent Slings (Malinda), Lisa McKinney (Shawn), Wayne Nilson of Oskaloosa, Ross Nilson (Amy), Cole Nilson (Crystal), Randee Slings of Ankeny, Doug Slings (Melinda), Eric Slings, Drew Slings (Heather) and Glen Ruter of Kanawha. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren; a great great grandchild on the way; two step great grandchildren; two step great great grandchild; a sister.
