He is survived by: his wife Lynda Jean Bakalar; his children, Lynne Van Maanen (Jeff) of Oskaloosa and Troy Shilling (LaCinda) of Oskaloosa; his grandchildren, Kylie Hecht (David) of Merrill, MaKena Veldhuizen of Baxter, Mia Shilling of Oskaloosa and Jayden Shilling of Oskaloosa; his great grandchildren, Taydyn, Andrew, Landon and Paxton; and his brothers, John Shilling (Cindy) of Centerville and Robert Shilling of Whiting.
