He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerrit A. Dyk and Reino Tilma Van Dyk; his daughter Connie Jo; and his siblings, Frank, Raymond Van Dyk, Jennie DeGeus, Cora McCall and Lorena Warder.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Van Dyk of Plymouth, Minnesota; his children, Rick Van Dyk (Christie), Debra Schultz (Dan) and Julie McKay (Neil); his grandchildren, Dustin Van Dyk (Kasey), Nicole Opalewski (Dan), Kyle Schultz (Amanda), Matthew McKay (Kimberly), Jessica Nault (Benj) and Erin McKay; and his great grandchildren, Kaleb Schultz, Jaxon, Sawyer Schultz, Addison, Garrett and Parker Van Dyk.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
