She was predeceased by: her parents, Nicholas Dykstra and Minnie Walraven Dykstra; her former husband Carl Stainbrook; her husband William Kempenaar (Rius); her brothers, Virgil Dykstra and Merle Dykstra; her grandson William Stainbrook; her great grandchildren, Jessica Stainbrook and Andrew Scholtus; her sons-in-law, Kenneth Harding and Marion Scholtus; and her sister Bernice Ruth Dykstra.
She is survived by: her children, Carol Scholtus of Fremont, Janice Harding of Beacon, Ronald Stainbrook of Des Moines, Dale Stainbrook of New Orleans and Sheryl Naatgeboren of Pella; and her brothers, Vernon Dykstra of Bussey and Marion Dykstra (Ruth) of Bussey. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, many great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God Church or Mahaska Health Foundation to benefit the Serenity House.
