He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer C. Kirby and Georgia K. Bloomfield Kirby; and his half-brothers, Bob Lytle and Gary Lytle. He is survived by: his half-brothers, Jerry Lytle and Mike Johnson; and his close friend Tim DeJong.

Memorials may be made to the Southern Iowa Speedway.
