It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Craig J. Downing of Oskaloosa, Iowa, who passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 101, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Craig J. Downing to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his wife Marian L. Steffens; and his brothers, Donald, Bernard, James, Rex, Frank and Harold.
He is survived by: his daughters, Nina Downing (Noel), Cindy Campbell (late Bruce), Jane (Danny Fetters) and Joni (Steve Benz); his grandchildren, Carrie (Kevin Hoff), Katie (Nick Draeger), Steve (Kendra Haugen) and Molly Burr; his great grandchildren, Stephanie Hoff (Conway Middleton), Isabella Hoff (Damian) and Sloan (Craig); his sister-in-law Erma Johnson; his sister Elizabeth Shreffler of Ballwin, MO; his aunt Erma; and his friends, Frank and Fran Besser. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to VFW Post 2308 in Sigourney or the Sigourney Public Library.
