He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Pitts and Laura Faye Pitts (Tindle); his wife Cleta; his siblings, Francis, Marion, Amos, Paul David, Everett Pitts and Ida Faye Lickteig; his siblings-in-law, Duane Pedrow, Dominic Lickteig, Hazel, Emma, Ida, Dorothy and Laurine Pitts; and his great grandchildren, Zachary Van Kooten, Wyatt and Weston Chapman.
He is survived by: his children, Tom (Sue Pitts) of Oskaloosa, Mike Pitts of Otley, Paul (Julie Pitts) of Oskaloosa and Cathy (Jim McGrew) of Oskaloosa; his grandchildren, Brandy Pitts, Shannon Dote (Joe), Angela Pitts, Dawn Borcher (John), Christy Jo Utterback (Shane), Michelle Van Kooten (Jamie), Lisa West, Jamie Chapman (Jason) and Michael Lee Jr.; his foster son Sid Quintero of Agency; his daughters, Leona Hanna and Amy Stone; and his sister Mamie Pedrow of Garnett, Kansas..
