She was predeceased by: her parents, Cecil A. Hamilton and Bernice E. Hamilton (Reed); her husband Kenneth Sickels; her sister Patricia McMorran; and her stepdaughter Penny Veatch.
She is survived by: her stepdaughters, Judy McWilliams (Ted) of Murray, Cherie Donovan (Scott) of Pella and Dawn Evenson (Frank) of Winterset; her grandchildren, Brandon Pinegar (Ana) of Spain, Scott Pinegar (Jena) of Ankeny, Mason McKinnie (Katie) and Mandi McKinnie of Urbandale; and her great grandchildren, Hunter Pinegar (Reed) of Waukee, Jake Pinegar of Ankeny, Sofia Pinegar of Spain, Crosby, Walker and Flynn McKinnie. She is also survived by several step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
JoAnn has donated her body to science at the University of Iowa, Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, where she will forever be a Hawkeye.
