He was predeceased by: his brother Howard Zimmerman. He is survived by: his children, Jason Zimmerman (Brenda) of Mason City and Lisa Burkhardt of Osage; his grandchildren, Kody Zimmerman (Kaitlyn), Justin Zimmerman, Brett Zimmerman (Kayla Tubbs), Dalton Burkhardt and Jax Burkhardt; his great grandchild Paul Jo Zimmerman; his stepgranddaughters, Samantha Smith (Matt) and Holly Dusheck (Jacob); and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Carson Dusheck, Bella Wernet, Drake, Demi and Duke Smith.
In Lieu of flowers memorials maybe made to the family to be given to a Veterans cause.
