He was predeceased by: his parents, Harriet G. (Strong) and Lloyd W. Counsell, Sr.; his siblings, Barbara Counsell, Lloyd Counsell, Jr. (Adelaide), Maurice Counsell (Joann) and Bob Counsell (Alta); and his brother-in-law Marvin Pitzen.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Alice Counsell of Osage; his children, Duane Counsell of Johnston, Gary Counsell (Corky) of New Haven, Barb Earll (Grant) of Sarasota, John Counsell (Marsha) of Sheffield and Christie Radechel (David) of Carlisle; and his siblings-in-law, Mel Pitzen (Shirley) of Marshalltown, Roger Pitzen (Gin) of Marion and Edna Pitzen of Osage. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
