She was predeceased by: her parents, Joe Pals and Mourine Pals; and her brothers, David Pals and James Pals. She is survived by: her husband James Carroll; her daughters, Susan Neuwohner (Jeff) of Lake Mills and Leanne Ermer (Rick) of Garner; her grandchildren, Emily Helgeson (Dan) of Lake Mills, Megan Welter (Scott) of Reinbeck, Joe Ermer, Jimmy Ermer of State Center and Jack Ermer of Garner; her great grandchildren, Cooper Helgeson, Emmett Helgeson and Kendall Welter; her sister Carol Lerdal (Rolland) of Berne; and her sister-in-law Marlys Pals of Cedar Falls. She is also survived by friends, attending morning coffees with her "coffee groups", bowling on Wednesdays, visiting with her children and grandchildren, and helping her husband.
