He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew J. Maten and Gertrude Vander Maten (Ver Meer); his spouse Arnola H. Raak; his siblings, Alice, Ray Van Dyke, Greta and Donald Foreman; and his brothers-in-law, Melvin Schouten, Raymond Kiel, David De Boer and Audley Dolphin.
He is survived by: his children, Ruth (Mark Babbitt) of Fort Dodge, Rachel (Russell Bell) of Renwick, Roger Vander Maten (Shannon Peterson) of Fort Dodge and Ryan Vander Maten of Myrtle Beach; his grandchildren, Christopher Larson (Miranda), Wendy Frost (Ryan), Matthew McCurdy (Colleen), Kelli McCurdy, Tawnie Bell, Logan Ponto (Matt) and Luke Vander Maten (Audrey); his sisters, JoAnn Schouten of Orange City, Edna Kiel of Orange City and Adeline Dolphin of Hospers; and his close friend Lois Rensink of Hospers. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren.
Memorials will be given to the Vander Maten Family for future designation.
