He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter S. Jong and Tracy De Jong (Faber); his wife Nellie Van Hill; his grandchildren, Kelly Zomermaand and Shawna Nepple; and his siblings, Peter S. De Jong, Raymond De Jong, Julius De Jong, Marion De Jong and Rena Kloosterman.
He is survived by: his children, Conrad De Jong (Paula) of Spirit Lake, Sharon (Henry Zomermaand) of Maurice, Larry De Jong (Betty) of Sioux Falls, Terri (Kent Kutnink) of Holmen, Wisconsin, Kathy De Jong of Sioux Center, Lavonne De Jong of Sioux Center and Jolene Johnson of Osawatomie, Kansas; and his siblings, Marvin De Jong of Orange City, Wilbur De Jong of Orange City, Arlene Menninga of Bullhead City, Arizona and Rosemary Te Grotenhuis of Orange City. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Orange City Area Christian School.
