Rodney Vellinga Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rodney Vellinga (Orange City, Iowa), born in West Branch, Iowa, who passed away on October 25, 2020, at the age of 100, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Vellinga and Dena Vellinga; his siblings, Bertha VanderStoep, Helen Korver, Nell Mouw, Wilma Klopfenstein, John Vellinga and Harvey Vellinga; his son Steven; and his son-in-law Dick Attleson.

He is survived by: his wife Irene Van Wyk; his brother Bob Vellinga of Palm View; his sister-in-law Leola TeGrotenhuis; and his children, Rodney D. Vellinga (Cathy) of Sioux City, David Vellinga (Nancy) of Des Moines, Mark Vellinga (Miriam) of Orange City, Tim Vellinga (Jennifer) of Lamy, Adriana Attleson of Mason CIty and Deb Netten (Ron) of Storm Lake. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Prairie Ridge.

“Sorry to hear of Rod s passing. He lived a long productive life. My parents and Rod and Irene were long time friends. Rod was my best adviser when I started farming. I started farming when chemicals were being used to control weeds. Every new chemical had its own formula. Rod new them all and how to mix them. I always enjoyed Rod. I missed visiting him these past months. Paul Lubbers”
