He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Zwaag and Arta Vander Zwaag (Dokter); his spouse Madaline Van Ravenswaay; his siblings, Kenneth Vander Zwaag and Lois (Paul De Jong); and his siblings-in-law, Wiz Punt, Richard Van Ravenswaay (Wilmina), Lela, Loren Van Heuvelen, Henrietta and Willis Bolt.
He is survived by: his children, Wanda (Leroy Wichers) of Le Mars, Darwin Vander Zwaag (Barb) of Rock Valley, Cheryl (Owen Aberson) of Sioux Center and Jeff Vander Zwaag (Andrea Kuehl) of Ames; his grandson Anthony Wichers; his children, Lindsay (Zach Sexton), Mason Wichers, Chelsey (Cory Van Maanen), Dustin Vander Zwaag (Katie), Jesse Vander Zwaag (Abby), Jasmine (Greg Boer), Ashley Aberson, T. J. Aberson, Joshua Vander Zwaag and Jordan Vander Zwaag; his sisters, Jackie Punt of Sheldon and Sherrie Vander Zwaag of Montrose; and his sister-in-law Gert (Cort Victoria) of Sheldon. He is also survived by nineteen great-grandchildren.
Memorials will be given to the Middleburg Free Grace Reformed Church and Sioux Center Health Hospice and Home Care.
