He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry John and Frances De Wit (Vanden Bosch); his sister Ruth (Mart Halma); and his siblings-in-law, Ed Driesen, Joe Van Oort, Gerald Rens, Mona De Wit and Sharon Van Oort.

He is survived by: his wife Joy Marie Van Oort; his children, Arlan (June De Wit), Rhonda (Gerald Postma), Robert (Laurie De Wit), Lyle (Pam De Wit), Loren (Julie De Wit) and Amy (Bill Davis); his siblings, John De Wit (Greta) of Sioux Falls, Lee (Don Jongerius) of Orange City, Gert (Cornie Hibma) of Washington State, Ed De Wit of Inwood and Linda (Simon Kooiman) of Ontario, Canada; and his siblings-in-law, Henny Van Oort of Rock Valley, Shirley Rens of Hull and Vern Van Oort of Doon. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the Orange City Area Home Health and Hospice and the First Christian Reformed Church.
