He was predeceased by: his parents, Bert J. Brake and Bessie Vande Brake (Tiemersma); his son-in-law Robert Sneller; his stepson-in-law Michael Peterson; and his siblings, Florence Gunderson, Josephine Wielenga, Betty Mouw, Bill Vande Brake and David Vande Brake.
He is survived by: his wife Betty J. Van Engen (Van Otterloo); his children, Bonita (James Juffer), Brian (Diane Vande Brake), Brenda (Kyle Schuiteman), Bridget (Les Vander Tuin), Mary (William Peterson) and Benjamin (Renae Vande Brake); his stepchildren, Arlan Van Engen (Shawna), Darla Peterson and Del Horstman; and also Marla. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; eleven step-great-grandchildren; and a sister.
