She was predeceased by: her father Andrew; her husband Melvin Schouten; her daughter Lorinda "Lori" Schouten; her siblings, Greta (Donald "Bud" Foreman), Alice (Ray Van Dyke) and Willis (Arnola Vander Maten); and her brothers-in-law, Raymond Kiel, David De Boer and Audley Dolphin.
She is survived by: her mother Gertrude Vander Maten (Ver Meer); her children, Christian, Alan Schouten (Shirley) of Sioux Center, Mark Schouten (Carrie) of Des Moines, Dan Schouten of Tokyo, Japan, Duane Schouten (Louise) of Albany and Beth (Shaun Pageler) of Phoenix, Arizona; and her sisters, Edna Kiel of Orange City and Adeline Dolphin of Orange City. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Memorials will be given to Frontiers, for their worldwide missions, and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for their research on Alzheimer's Disease.
